Independent Robotics is an AI and robotics company developing advanced tools for interacting with unmanned systems. Our products make it easier to command and control robots, and for robots to communicate with people. We’re hiring a Defence Solutions Lead to help grow our defence business.
The Role
The Defence Solutions Lead will work at the intersection of defence business development, customer discovery, solution design, and product feedback. This role requires someone who can build trust with technical and operational stakeholders, manage complex opportunities, and translate customer needs into practical product and deployment plans.
Responsibilities
Identify, qualify, and develop defence and government opportunities.
Engage with defence, public safety, security, and government stakeholders to understand operational needs and procurement pathways.
Prepare proposals, statements of work, briefing materials, presentations, and other customer-facing documentation.
Track opportunities, stakeholders, next steps, and commitments with discipline and attention to detail.
Represent Independent Robotics at industry events, defence innovation programs, and customer meetings.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate is practical, self-directed, and comfortable operating in ambiguous environments. They should be able to manage long sales cycles, complex stakeholders, and technical products.
Personal Attributes
Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to write concise briefing materials, proposals, statements of work, and executive summaries
Ability to understand and explain technical products to non-technical and semi-technical audiences.
Strong organizational skills and follow-through, with high attention to detail.
Willingness to travel for customer meetings, demonstrations, and industry events as required.
Experience
Defence, aerospace, robotics, geospatial intelligence, unmanned systems, or mission software (C2, C4ISR, and COP).
Familiarity with Canadian defence procurement, DRDC, CAF, NATO DIANA, DOD, or related programs is an asset.
Business development, solutions engineering, technical sales, product/program management, in a technical environment.
Working with government, defence, public safety, or other institutional customers.
Writing briefing materials, proposals, customer presentations
Explaining technical products clearly to non-technical and semi-technical audiences
Location
Independent Robotics is based in Montréal, Québec. Candidates based in other locations will be considered, with preference for Montréal, Halifax, Toronto, Ottawa and Waterloo.
